City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Table 1: Jardin De Ninos Park Expansion Project Base Bid Amount
Bidder (lowest to highest)Total Bid Amount
McNabb Construction, Inc.$491,491
S&H Construction, Inc.$524,600
Engineer’s Estimate $410,000 - $450,000
The project includes two alternatives: landscape planting and decorative boulders. These items were
identified as alternatives because they can be implemented later by Parks staff, potentially at a lower
cost. The bid alternatives plus base bids are summarized in the table below.
Table 2: Jardin De Ninos Park Expansion Project Base Bid + Alternatives
Bidder (lowest to highest)Total Bid Amount
McNabb Construction, Inc.$524,524
S&H Construction, Inc.$613,600
Engineer’s Estimate $442,000 - $482,000
The low bid of $491,491 submitted by McNabb Construction, Inc. is 9% more than the Engineer’s Estimate
of $450,000 (base bid only). The Engineer’s Estimate was determined by Engineering staff in coordination
with the design team and was based on the City and consultant’s experience with other similar projects
throughout the Bay Area and past park projects at Redwood City. Staff reviewed the provided bid
documentation and believes the low bid is responsive, responsible, and balanced.
Staff recommends awarding the contract to McNabb Construction, Inc. for the base bid only, as there are
currently insufficient funds for the bid alternatives (landscape planting and decorative boulders). The City
can install the landscape planting and boulders, if necessary, at a future date.
Bid Results – Supply of Metal Frame Structure
The project was advertised in the San Mateo Daily Journal newspaper and on the City’s website on August
1, 2024. One bid was postmarked/received by August 28, 2024, and the scheduled bid opening was
conducted virtually via Zoom on August 28, 2024.
Table 3: Supply of Metal Frame Structure Base Bid Amount
Bidder (lowest to highest)Total Bid Amount
Park Associates Dba Park Planet $159,856.42
Engineer’s Estimate $140,000 - $160,000
The low bid of $159,856.42 submitted by Park Associates Dba Park Planet is within the Engineer’s Estimate
of $140,000 - $160,000. Staff reviewed the provided bid documentation and believes the low bid is
responsive, responsible, and balanced. Staff recommends awarding the contract to Park Associates Dba
Park Planet.
6.D. - Page 3 of 5
119
