City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Figure 1. Project Location
ANALYSIS
Construction started on May 20, 2024 and concluded on August 8, 2024. The Engineering Department has
inspected the work and determined the improvements outlined by the project plans and specifications
have been successfully completed, therefore, staff recommends acceptance of the project. The first event
held at the improved field was on August 10, and since then the field has been fully functional.
Two change orders were issued with a total credit to the City of $36,694.15 (-4.90% of the awarded
contract amount), resulting in an adjusted contract price of $712, 37.85. The first change order replaced
the originally specified infill material with a less abrasive natural alternative, leading to cost savings for
the City. The second change order addressed a condition where the curb at the right field outfield was
partially lifted due to tree root intrusion. This change allowed for a uniform surface between the new turf
and the adjacent concrete curb. If left as it was, the lifted concrete could have presented a tripping hazard
to field users.
6.E. - Page 2 of 4
123
