Community Risk Officer <br /> <br />7.13 Uniform Allowance <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 2024, the City will provide for all employees represented by the <br />bargaining unit with cleaning, altering, repairing and/or replacement of <br />damaged uniforms as authorized by the Fire Chief or his or her designee . The <br />cost of uniform issuance, repair and replacement will not exceed nine hundred <br />dollars ($900) per fiscal year per employee, unless authorized by the Fire Chief. <br /> <br />Such furnished uniforms shall remain the property of and under the control of <br />the City. <br /> <br />The Finance Department will calculate the total cost of cleaning, altering, <br />repairing and/or replacement of damaged uniforms. This total cost will be <br />divided by the number of employees in the bargaining unit. The resulting <br />quotient will be periodically reported to CalPERS as reportable compensation for <br />eligible employees in the bargaining unit in accordance with PERS rules and <br />regulations, not to exceed one thousand one hundred fifty dollars ($1,150) per <br />year (including up to $900 per year for uniform issuance, repair and replacement <br />and up to $250 per year for cleaning). In accordance with Government Code <br />Section 7522.34(c)(7), this provision shall not apply to new members as defined <br />by the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). Effective July 1, 2019, the <br />annual uniform allowance will be increased to Eight Hundred Dollars ($800) per <br />fiscal year per employee, and will be paid on a bi-weekly basis in the amount of <br />Thirty Dollars and Seventy-Seven cents ($30.77) per pay period. <br />Uniform allowance will be part of the PERS reportable compensation only for <br />those employees who are classic CalPERS members, as determined by CalPERS <br />regulations. <br /> <br />7.14 Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br />Regular employees shall be eligible for reimbursement of costs of tuition, <br />registration fees, books and supplies and other educational expenses incurred <br />in connection with enrollment in and successful completion of courses of <br />6.A. - Page 33 of 99 <br />40
