<br />36 <br /> <br />required to acknowledge the receipt of any document entered into their personnel file <br />without prejudice to subsequent arguments concerning the contents of such documents. <br /> <br />At the request of the employee, a letter of reprimand may be removed from the <br />employee’s personnel file, at the discretion of the Fire Chief and the Personnel Officer, if <br />the employee has not been subject to subsequent disciplinary action in which the <br />minimum corrective action imposed is a letter of reprimand during the initial two -year <br />period following the issuance of the letter of reprimand that the employee is requesting <br />be removed from their file. Letters of reprimand which have been removed pursuant to <br />this Section shall be sent to the employee. <br /> <br />SECTION 11 – PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br /> <br />11.1 New Employees <br /> <br />Fire Fighter/Engineers shall serve a probationary period of eighteen (18) months. <br />The probationary period for all employees includes a six (6) months <br />driver/operator training and evaluation program. Upon satisfactory completion <br />of such probationary period, the employee shall be appointed as a regular <br />employee of the City. <br /> <br />During the probationary period, Fire Fighter/Engineers shall be required to pass <br />physical and manipulative skills tests, and written examinations on job related <br />information, which will be supplied to the employee. <br /> <br />A probationary Fire Fighter/Engineer shall read and discuss their monthly <br />performance reports with their Company Officer before such reports become <br />part of the employee's employment record. <br /> <br />Deputy Fire Marshals and Fire Prevention Officers shall serve a probationary <br />period of twelve (12) months. <br /> <br />New employees on probation who are off work for any reason or on light duty <br />for more than thirty (30) work days shall have their probationary period <br />extended by the same amount of time as the work absence or their light duty <br />assignment. <br /> <br />An employee may be separated from City service at any time during the <br />probationary period without right of appeal or hearing as specified in Section <br />14.3 of this MOU. <br /> <br />11.2 Promotional Probation <br /> <br />6.A. - Page 47 of 99 <br />54
