<br />37 <br /> <br />All promotional appointments shall be tentative and subject to a probationary <br />period of twelve (12) months of service from the date of appointment. During <br />the probationary period, an employee may be rejected at any time by the City <br />Manager upon recommendation of the Fire Chief. Any regular employee <br />rejected during the probationary period following a promotional appointment <br />shall be reinstated to the position from which the employee was promoted, <br />unless conditions warrant the employee’s dismissal. <br /> <br />Promotional employees on probation who are off work for any reason or on light <br />duty for more than thirty (30) work days shall have their probationary period <br />extended by the same amount of time as the work absence or their light duty <br />assignment. <br /> <br />Upon satisfactory completion of such probationary period, the employee shall <br />be appointed to a regular position in that classification. <br /> <br />SECTION 12 – STATION BIDDING <br /> <br />The bidding procedures are found in the Scheduling Guide and changes are made with <br />the mutual agreement of the Fire Chief or designee and the Association. <br /> <br />SECTION 13 - PROMOTION <br /> <br />13.1 Examination <br /> <br />In the event the City desires to fill a vacancy by promotion, the Personnel Officer <br />shall prepare and administer an examination for those employees holding similar <br />positions in lower classes. <br /> <br />13.2 Eligible List <br /> <br />The names of the successful candidates shall be recorded in the order of their <br />standing in the examination on an eligible list. The Human Resources <br />Department shall provide to the Fire Department and Association a list of the Fire <br />Captain candidates from the eligibility list to include candidate name and rank <br />position. No scores will be provided. <br /> <br />13.3 Promotional Appointment <br /> <br />Promotional appointments shall be made from the first three (3) candidates on <br />the eligible list who are ready and willing to accept the position offered. <br /> <br />13.4 Duration of Eligible List <br /> <br />6.A. - Page 48 of 99 <br />55
