<br />49 <br /> <br />o To obtain services from a domestic violence shelter, <br />program, or rape crisis center as a result of domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, or stalking. <br />o To obtain psychological counseling related to an <br />experience of domestic violence, sexual assault, or <br />stalking. <br />o To participate in safety planning and take other <br />actions to increase safety from future domestic <br />violence, sexual assault, or stalking, including <br />temporary or permanent relocation. <br /> <br />If an employee’s use of sick leave results in an absence from work of <br />more than five (5)three (3) or more consecutive work days or duty <br />shifts, a doctor’s certificate or other reasonable proof of illness may <br />be required by the Department. <br /> <br />If a supervisor believes there is an abuse of sick leave, the supervisor <br />may require the employee to provide medical verification for all <br />future sick leave absences for a period of ninety (90) days, upon <br />written notification by the supervisor to the employee. <br /> <br />Abuse of sick leave by an employee will subject the employee to <br />disciplinary action. <br /> <br />When an employee returns to work after any absence chargeable to <br />sick leave due to their own condition, the City may require a <br />statement from the attending doctor that the employee is in fit <br />physical condition to perform all the duties of their position. In <br />addition, the employee may be required to undergo a medical <br />examination at the City's expense to be performed by a doctor <br />designated by the City, before the employee is permitted to return <br />to work. <br /> <br />Effective January 1, 2022, use and cash out of leave will be <br />calculated by rounding to two (2) decimal places rather than three <br />(3) decimal places (i.e., .XX instead of .XXX). <br /> <br />18.1.3 Charge for Sick Leave <br /> <br />Except as provided in section 18.1.1 (for shift employees <br />temporarily assigned to a 40-hour work week), charge for sick leave <br />used shall be on the basis of one (1) hour for each hour used; <br />provided, however, that sick leave shall be charged for only those <br />hours when the employee was absent from work. <br />6.A. - Page 60 of 99 <br />67
