REV: 10-05-23 VR
EXHIBIT “A”
SCOPE OF SERVICES AND FEE
Jardin de Ninos Park Expansion Art Installation
Based on the approved structural drawings from ICON dated 3/27/2023, the Artist shall
develop a conceptual plan and final plan for the artistic cladding the metal structure that
is furnished by the City for the Jardin de Ninos Expansion Project. The art for the cladding
of the metal structure is influenced by the art installations and color story in the existing
park renovated in 2015. The Artist shall install the cladding for cupola, roof panels, siding
and columns of the metal structure.
In 2019, after an arson incident at Linden Park, the City hired Fernando Escartiz to create
a new vertical structure attached to the existing footings to replace the burned willow
butterfly chrysalises. The new structures are made of waterproof and fireproof material,
a mix of fiberglass and resin.
The metal structure at this park, which will be installed by the general contractor, shall be
covered in resin-mix cladding to create a waterproof structure by the Artist. The cladding
shall be fabricated off site and delivered and installed at the park by the Artist.
Task 1: Conceptual Plan and Mockup of Resin Clad Structure
Subtask 1.1: Art Commission Submittal
Artist will work with City staff to start the project off by developing a submittal package for
the Arts Commission.
Deliverables:
1. Submit a sketch (color freehand drawing) of resin clad structure based on ICON
structurally approved plan by City Building Official.
2. Finalize a color illustrated concept plan to use for plans and promotion.
3. Develop a preliminary timeline with milestones for design, fabrication and installation.
4. Submit a quote for the art installation.
5. Begin to develop a scaled mockup.
Meetings:
• Attend and/or present at one Arts Commission meeting.
• Attend on-site and virtual meetings as needed.
Subtask 1.2: Working Mockup(s)
Artist will review construction documents as part of a collaborative process for the
cladding over the metal and electrical conduits, outlets, and lights so the cladding will not
interfere or conflict with electrical design.
ATTY/AGR.2023.245/Escartiz Studio (Jardin de Ninos Park Expansion Art Installation) (Page 13 of 15)
