The <br />project and proposed restaurant/bar use promotes General Plan Goal BE-18, <br />which aims to “make Downtown the premier urban location on the Peninsula for <br />business, government functions, shopping, dining, living, and entertainment, with <br />attractive buildings and streetscapes that respect and respond to Redwood City’s <br />history” by rehabilitating a historic building and introducing new commercial dining <br />and entertainment uses. Furthermore, the project promotes DTPP Revitalization <br />Strategy 1.2.2.B.8. to “Encourage and nurture the emerging renaissance <br />beginning along Main Street. Promote the re-use of existing buildings by one-of-a- <br />kind local businesses. Provide these properties with a bit more flexibility in terms <br />of permitted uses to support the evolving eclectic mixture of uses along the <br />corridor. Retain the essential requirements for physical configuration that will <br />further the street’s identity as historic and pedestrian-oriented.” The proposed <br />rooftop bar and ground floor commercial and restaurant uses contribute to the <br />vitality of Redwood City’s downtown while increasing entertainment, retail, and <br />dining options. <br /> <br />b.
