ATTY/RESO.0097/PC RESO 1 TWIN DOLPHIN
REV: 10-04-23 VR
provide plans and hydraulic calculations under a separate fire permit for the design of the fire
sprinkler system. [COA][FIRE]

52. Fire Alarm System - An Underwriters Laboratories Central Station fully addressable fire alarm
system is required to be installed throughout the building and in compliance with NFPA 72. The fire
alarm system must also be provided with Underwriters Laboratories Central Station Monitoring
Service. Prior to installation, provide plans and voltage drop calculations under a separate fire
permit for the design of the fire alarm system and identify the company providing the Underwriters
Laboratories Central Station Monitoring Service. [COA][FIRE]

53. Means of Egress Sizing and Emergency Voice/Alarm Communication System - The means of egress
sizing must use the capacity factor of 0.2 inches per occupant for the stairways and 0.15 inches per
occupant for other egress components. These capacity factors are permitted to be applied when
the building is provided with fire sprinkler protection and an emergency voice/alarm
communication system throughout the building. [COA][FIRE]

54. Emergency Responder Radio Coverage System (ERRCS) - An emergency responder radio coverage
system (ERRCS) is required. [CFC §510.1] The plans for this system must be submitted under a
separate fire permit prior to installation. These plans should show that the room in which the ERRCS
head-end unit is installed has independent ventilation or air conditioning to protect against
overheating of the communications equipment. The air conditioning system must be capable of
maintaining temperatures within the range established for the communications equipment. An
acceptance test of the system must be provided upon completion of installation and prior to
building occupancy. [CFC § 510.5.3] [COA][FIRE]

55. Fire Apparatus Access Roads - An approved fire apparatus access road must be provided. A Class I
automatic wet standpipe system, at the location shown in the Approved Alternate Means and
Methods Request (AMMR) application, signed January 19, 2023, was approved as an alternate
method for compliance. [CFC §503.1.1]. The approved AMMR shall be placed on the plans prior to
the building permit application. [COA][FIRE]

56. Aerial Fire Apparatus Access - Buildings greater than 30 feet in height require aerial (ladder truck)
fire apparatus access, positioned parallel to the long side of the building. No overhead utility or
power lines, horizontal or vertical fixed obstructions are to be located along the aerial fire apparatus
access road, nor can they be located between the aerial fire apparatus access road and the building
that may obstruct aerial fire apparatus operations. [CFC Appendix D§105.1]. [COA][FIRE]

57. Required Fire Flow - Based on the proposed construction type of Type I-B, 215,234 square feet
(Combined Levels 1, 2, and 3), the required fire flow for this project is 5,250 GPM at 20 psi residual
pressure. After allowing for a 50% reduction due to the installation of automatic fire sprinklers
meeting section 903.3.1.1 of the 2019 CFC (NFPA 13), the required fire flow for this project is 2,625
GPM at 20 psi residual pressure. [CFC §507.1] Based on the required fire flow of 2,625 GPM at 20
psi residual pressure, the required number of fire hydrants is three (3) with a spacing of 450 feet in
accordance with Appendix C of the CFC. [COA][FIRE]

58. Class I – Automatic Wet Standpipe Hose Station Outlets - Automatic wet standpipes are required
to be provided as addressed in the Approved AMMR, signed January 19, 2023, to be installed on
the Podium Plaza, throughout the parking garage, and in all stairways on the intermediate stair
