A separate fire permit is required for the fire pump prior to installation, with plans conforming <br />to CFC § 913 and Section 4.2 of NFPA 20. Electric fire pumps are to be backed up on emergency <br />power fed from the diesel-powered emergency generators within the generator room. Class I – Automatic Wet Standpipe Hose Station Outlets – Podium Plaza - The Podium Plaza area <br />is to be provided with Class I automatic wet standpipe hose outlets. Fire Hydrant and Sprinkler System Feed Lines - All water mains providing a water supply for fire <br />protection, both to fire hydrants and to fire service systems, must be not less than eight inches in <br />diameter. Fire Hydrant Placement and Fire Department Connection (FDC) - Buildings equipped with a <br />standpipe system installed in accordance with CFC §905 and a fire sprinkler system complying with <br />CFC §903.3.1.1 must have a fire hydrant within 50-feet of the fire department connection and <br />located on the same side of the roadway. [CFC §507.5.1 as amended by the City]. [COA][FIRE] <br /> <br />63. Fire Pump Room - The fire pump must be installed in a dedicated fire pump room as referenced on <br />plans per CFC §913. Alternate power must be provided in accordance with the City of Redwood City <br />Code of Ordinances §12.24.1. [COA][FIRE] <br /> <br />64. Alternate Source of Power - Notwithstanding the availability of a public utility to provide electric <br />service for a fire pump, electrically driven fire pumps must be provided with an alternate source of <br />power in accordance with NFPA 20 due to foreseeable extended electrical service interruptions <br />along the California Power Grid due to high demand, high heat, Public Safety Power Shutoffs, or <br />damage to the power grid caused by destructive natural events such as wildfires, high winds, and <br />earthquakes. [CFC §913.2.3 and the Redwood City Municipal Code §12.24.1] The alternative source <br />of power may be supplied with fuel in the form of diesel, natural gas, or LPG. [COA][FIRE] <br /> <br />65. Fire Equipment Enclosure - Buildings of four or more stories in height must have a secure enclosed <br />area for post-event overhaul supplies. The room or cabinet must measure not less than 8 feet by 6 <br />feet and must be stocked with the items as required by the Redwood City Fire Department. [CFC <br />§907.2.12.3.1-D as amended by the City of Redwood City Code of Ordinances §12.23]. [COA][FIRE] <br /> <br />66.
