Learn why this is important
Dear honorable city council members,
I am writing to you on behalf of the Peninsula Solidarity Cohort- an interfaith group of over
30 diverse clergy and faith leaders from across the county. A number of our members serve
congregations in Redwood City.
The cohort has been deeply involved in issues of immigration since 2017.
We are asking you to please place the sanctuary ordinance on the agenda for your December
16th meeting.
While the county has an ordinance/agreement in place, we believe each city should formalize
their own policy of non-cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The ordinance
builds trust, encourages access to essential services, and upholds Redwood City’s commitment
to be a city for all.
We urge you to approve this measure to protect and strengthen our community.
Faith leaders across the county will be urging their own cities to do the same. Redwood City
has often been a real leader in our county on some of the most pressing social issues. We trust
you will lead us once again.
Rev.
