Learn why this is important
Dear Council Members,
I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed ordinance restricting the use of city
resources to assist immigration authorities. This policy reinforces Redwood City's
commitment to inclusivity and protects the safety and well-being of our diverse community.
As a 17 year resident of Redwood City, I have seen first hand the way immigrants contribute
to our wonderful city. This is not an "us" vs. "them" issue. Immigrants are an essential part of
the fabric of our community. We are one Redwood City. The people who will be targeted by
new federal anti-immigration policies are not strangers. They are our friends, colleagues and
neighbors. For many of them Redwood City is the only home they've ever known.
This ordinance will not just protect undocumented members of our community but their
families as well, many of whom rely on them as the main breadwinners and caregivers for
their household. We all know someone who would benefit from this orgdinance.
I respectfully request that the council include this ordinance on the agenda of the December 16
meeting. I urge you to approve this measure to protect and strengthen our community.
Sincerely,
Laurie Hahn Tapper
Resident of Redwood city
