Learn why this isimportant <br />Dear Redwood City City Council Members, <br />I wish I could be with you this evening, but a number of faith communities from Redwood <br />City, San Carlos, and beyond are gathering tonight for a community Thanksgiving worship <br />service in San Carlos. <br />Part of what we are giving thanks for is the diversity and and richness that we call home in <br />Redwood City and San Mateo County. No small part of this richness comes from the <br />immigrant members of our community -- regardless of their federal immigration status. <br />To this end, I urge you, both tonight and again in December to vote in favor of the "City of <br />Redwood City Sanctuary City Ordinance." It is my hope and prayer that our city resources are <br />used for the flourishing of our Redwood City community, and not for detaining people and <br />disrupting family and community life. <br />In my faith tradition we hear Jesus say, "I was a stranger and you welcomed me," and I want <br />Redwood City to be a place where we live out this welcome day in and day out. <br />Again, please support the Sanctuary City Ordinance.
