But they also have <br />downsides as these cities threaten public safety. (US Code <br />1373: "A Federal State or Local Government may NOT <br />prohibit, or in any way restrict, any Government entity or <br />official from sending, receiving from the Immigration and <br />Naturalization Service." <br /> <br />Sanctuary cities’ pros and cons is a controversial and <br />debatable subject. Are sanctuary cities a problem or a <br />solution? Do sanctuary cities provide protection to <br />undocumented immigrants or allow criminals to roam <br />free? <br />*** If Councilmember Chris Sturken proposes that <br />Redwood City should become a Sanctuary City, I urge the <br />other Councilmembers to consider making this a matter <br />of public comment and also a survey for the Redwood <br />City community. Other Sanctuary Cities have shown to <br />have problems regarding violent crime. (SF, Chicago, <br />NYC, etc.)
