Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: November 25, 2024 <br />SUBJECT <br />Temporary removal of existing floating dock and associated utilities to limit public health and safety issues <br />and City costs while the City conducts community engagement on use of City property in the Inner Harbor <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the temporary removal of the existing floating dock and associated <br />utilities at Docktown Marina while the City conducts community engagement on use of City property in <br />the Inner Harbor. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />Docktown Marina (Docktown) is located on Redwood Creek and is north of, and immediately adjacent to, <br />1548 Maple Street in Redwood City (shown in Figure 1). Docktown currently consists of approximately <br />2,000 linear square feet of dock area and ramps and about 95 berths. Additional information about the <br />surrounding land uses and general description can be found in the attached memo, titled Categorical <br />Exemption Memorandum for Proposed Docktown Marina Project, Redwood City, San Mateo County, <br />California (Memo). <br />In 1945, the City acquired the portion of Redwood Creek which is now Docktown from the State of <br />California and in 1964 the City leased the waterway for marina use. Through March 2013, Docktown was <br />operated by Docktown Marina, Inc., a private party with a lease agreement and permit to operate the <br />marina. The City took over operations and management of Docktown in 2013, after Docktown Marina, <br />Inc. terminated its lease and permit. <br />6.G. - Page 1 of 45 <br />179
