City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
Figure 1 – Docktown Marina
ANALYSIS
In the early 2025, the City anticipates launching the Bayfront Park planning project, an initiative seeking
community engagement to inform future uses of City-owned property in the Inner Harbor area. This
process is likely to take at least 12 months, and potentially longer. As part of that effort, the City will
consider the potential future use of Docktown. While this study is underway, the City wants to proceed
with temporary removal of the existing floating dock and associated utilities no longer being used by
tenants. Interim removal of the existing dock will prevent unwanted and unintended use of the marina
such as encampment and avoid potential community health and safety issues. Additionally, temporary
removal would avoid continued costs for upkeep and maintenance of the dock and utilities.
All existing landside public recreational facilities and amenities, including a small watercraft launch, as
well as existing in-water infrastructure (e.g. support pillars associated with the dock) would remain.
Potentially, these could be reused if the City chose to restore/rebuild a new marina following the
community engagement process.
The Deconstruction Activities section (1.3.1) of Attachment A of the attached Memo details the proposed
plan for dock removal and specifically states
the existing facilities to be removed include approximately 2,000 linear square feet of dock area
and ramps with approximately 95 berths. The dock area and ramps would be removed in large,
6.G. - Page 2 of 45
180
