City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
DATE: November 25, 2024
SUBJECT
Resolution authorizing the submission of a funding application for the Bay Road Complete Street
Rehabilitation Project – One Bay Area Grant 3 (OBAG 3) Program
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a resolution authorizing the filing of an application for $3,806,790 in funding assigned to the
Metropolitan Transportation Commission and committing any necessary matching funds and stating
assurance to complete the project.
STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Transportation
BACKGROUND
In May 2022, the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County (C/CAG) issued a call for
projects for the County and Local Program under the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)’s
One Bay Area Grant 3 (OBAG 3) Program. The program’s goal is to incorporate recent regional policy
initiatives, such as safety/Vision Zero initiatives, into the funded projects. It also seeks to strengthen the
connection between transportation investments and regional goals for focused growth in Priority
Development Areas (PDAs) -places near public transit that are planned for new homes, jobs, and
community amenities.
The City’s candidate project for this funding program is on Bay Road; half of the project is in Redwood City
and half is in the San Mate County unincorporated area. The City, in coordination with San Mateo County,
initiated and submitted a grant application for the design and construction phase of the Bay Road
Complete Streets Rehabilitation Project between Fifth and Fifteenth Avenues. The grant request was
approved by C/CAG and MTC.
6.H. - Page 1 of 7
224
