<br />14 <br /> <br />Employees <br />Hired Before <br />January 23, <br />2023 <br />2.5% 6.5%5% None 9%7.5% <br />Employees <br />Hired On or <br />After January <br />23, 2023 <br />2.5% 5%3.5% 1.5% 9%7.5% <br /> <br />Education Incentive (POST and degree pay combined) shall not exceed seven and <br />one-half nine percent (9%7.5%) for any employee. <br /> <br />It is the employee’s responsibility to submit to the department training officer a <br />written request for educational incentive pay upon eligibility. Therefore, upon <br />receiving the written notification and the certificate, the City shall process the <br />educational incentive pay effective retroactively to the date of written request. <br /> <br />The Training Manager shall post on a semi-annual basis the P.O.S.T. requirements <br />for Intermediate and Advanced Certificates and a list of the names of officers who <br />currently possess either Certificate. <br /> <br />7.11 K-9 Maintenance Compensation <br /> <br />Police Officers who are assigned as canine handlers shall receive premium pay in <br />the amount of 5% of the officer’s base pay. Those officers shall also receive an <br />additional seven (7) hours of pay per pay period, compensated at one and one-half <br />(1-1/2) times the employee’s base pay to pay for the time to handle, train and care <br />for their canine partner. The parties acknowledge that the Fair Labor Standards Act, <br />which governs the entitlement to compensation for canine duties, entitles the parties <br />to agree to a reasonable number of hours per pay period for the performance of off- <br />duty canine duties. It is the intent of the parties through the provisions of this article <br />to fully comply with the requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Both parties <br />believe that this agreement does comply with the requirements of the Fair Labor <br />Standards Act. <br /> <br />Effective the first full pay period following City Council approval of a successor <br />MOU in 2024, Canine Officers who are required to keep available a privately- <br />owned vehicle for canine transportation during their working days as a condition of <br />employment shall be provided an auto allowance in the amount of two hundred <br />dollars ($200.00) per month. The auto allowance will be in lieu of mileage <br />reimbursement provided under Section 7.18 where applicable. <br /> <br />7.12 Overtime <br /> <br />7.12.1 Forty (40) Hour Workweek Employees <br /> <br />6.I. - Page 26 of 84 <br />256
