<br />22 <br /> <br />7.17.1 An employee who commences a scheduled vacation period and <br />subsequently becomes ill before their vacation period has been completed <br />shall be placed on illness leave under the following conditions: <br /> <br />7.17.1.1 The employee otherwise qualified for illness leave as <br />provided by this MOU; and <br /> <br />7.17.1.2 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately <br />following the vacation period; and, <br /> <br />7.17.1.3 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from a <br />licensed medical practitioner for each such day of illness <br />leave requested. <br /> <br />7.17.2 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to illness leave, <br />the appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the worker's earned <br />vacation balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation <br />credit shall be provided within the City's existing practices in order to <br />avoid loss of vacation credit. <br /> <br />7.18 Mileage Payment <br /> <br />The City shall reimburse employees for those miles employees are required to drive <br />their personal vehicles in the performance of assigned job duties as follows: <br /> <br />• For travel to and from destination of less than three hundred (300) miles, <br />actual costs to and from destination not to exceed a maximum of the current <br />IRS mileage reimbursement rate for miles traveled both within and outside <br />the City by privately-owned conveyance. <br /> <br />• For travel to and from destination in excess of three hundred (300) miles, <br />the employee shall be paid actual costs, up to the lesser of the current IRS <br />mileage reimbursement rate for the miles driven and the actual air coach <br />fare. <br /> <br />• If the City is reimbursed by P.O.S.T. for an employee's mileage payment, <br />the City shall pay to the employee the full amount of the P.O.S.T. <br />reimbursement, in lieu of the reimbursement described above. <br /> <br />Employees must submit requests for reimbursement in accordance with the <br />requirements of the City’s travel policy in effect as of the date of this agreement, <br />and as subsequently amended subject to notice to the Association and the <br />opportunity to meet and confer where required by law. <br /> <br />7.19 Tuition Reimbursement <br /> <br />6.I. - Page 34 of 84 <br />264
