The DCRC will include an extensive
community outreach and visioning process, economic analysis, and environmental analysis culminating in
a plan that will guide the area’s equitable evolution in terms of land use, urban design, connectivity,
historic preservation, infrastructure, and climate resiliency. The City seeks to build on Downtown
Redwood City’s successes and engage the community in the visioning process in order to position itself to
meet new challenges and realities emerging around how residents, employees, and visitors live, work,
shop, recreate, and travel.
City staff and the consultant team held an internal kick-off meeting and site tour for the planning effort
on September 18, 2024, and have worked quickly to advance the early stages of the project scope. A chief
priority is to develop a Community Engagement Strategy. Building on the community engagement tasks
outlined in the project scope of work (see Linked Document A), the Community Engagement Strategy is
8.A. - Page 1 of 17
64
