The DCRC project scope includes City Council and community review and
of the Strategy before community engagement activities commence in the first half of 2025. Following
input on the Strategy, staff seeks the City Council’s approval.
ANALYSIS
The Community Engagement Strategy, included as Attachment A to this staff report, provides an overview
of the primary community engagement activities that City staff and the consultant team will undertake to
help ensure the Plan represents the vision, interests, and goals of a broad and diverse spectrum of the
Redwood City community. The project team will hear from people who live, work, visit, and recreate in
Redwood City while acknowledging the special considerations of residents and businesses located directly
in Downtown and the adjacent neighborhoods within the Plan Area boundary (as shown in Figure 1).
Engagement will generally take place in three stages:
1.Listening and Learning: This stage focuses on understanding existing conditions and gathering
additional input on community experiences, needs, and priorities.
2.Exploration: Building on the initial findings, this stage involves deeper community engagement to
explore potential solutions. The team will work collaboratively with the community to develop and
refine preferred concepts.
3.Visioning: In the final stage, the refined concepts are synthesized into a cohesive Vision Plan that
reflects the community priorities and provides a roadmap for implementation.
8.A. - Page 2 of 17
65
