STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE Healthy Community for All BACKGROUND The new Veterans Memorial Building/Senior Center (the Project) is a significant initiative aimed at serving the City’s senior population and honoring veterans. ELS Architecture and Urban Design (ELS) was hired to provide architectural design and oversight, while Gilbane Building Company (Gilbane) was hired to manage construction of the Project. Conceptualized as a hub for community interaction, senior services, health services, recreational activities, theater performance, and commemorative events, the Project reflects the City’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all residents. The new 45,000 square foot facility will house multipurpose rooms for events, meetings, and workshops, non- profit center, health and wellness programs, a state-of-the-art kitchen for meal services, and a dedicated space for veterans to gather, share their experiences, and access essential resources. On October 28, 2022, the City Council approved a Purchase Agreement for Goods, Commodities, and Services with One Workplace in the amount of $599,263 to provide all of the interior furniture for the new 6.G. - Page 1 of 13 107
