Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: January 27, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Final acceptance of Redwood Creek Channel Rehabilitation near 1891 Palm Avenue Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept Redwood Creek Channel Rehabilitation near 1891 Palm Avenue Project and authorize <br />the release of bonds and retention according to City procedures. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Public Safety <br />BACKGROUND <br />On June 24, 2024, the City Council approved and authorized the City Manager to execute a contract with <br />B&D Excavation and Construction for the Redwood Creek Channel Rehabilitation Near 1891 Palm Avenue <br />Project for $1,109,900.00, and authorized the City Manager or their designee to increase the contract <br />amount, if necessary, up to 10 percent for a not to exceed total amount of $1,220,890.00. The agreement <br />was fully executed on July 15, 2024. The project replaced approximately 23 linear feet of full channel and <br />94 linear feet of half channel wall that exhibited structural deficiencies. The project is located adjacent to <br />1891 Palm Avenue. <br />On August 26, 2024, City Council approved a change order for an additional $331,500, increasing the <br />contract amount to a total of $1,441,400.00, and authorized the City Manager or their designee to <br />increase the contract amount, if necessary, up to 10 percent of the new contract amount for a not to <br />exceed total in the amount of $1,585,540.00. This change order increased the project scope to include an <br />additional 37 linear feet of creek channel wall to prevent future failure of this channel section. <br />6.A. - Page 1 of 4 <br />8
