Page 1 of 4 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: February 10, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Designation of authority to execute agreements related to the State Route 84 (Woodside Road)/U.S. 101 <br />Interchange Reimagined Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, authorize the City Manager or designee to amend the Caltrans Cooperative Agreement for this <br />Project regarding right-of-way (R/W) grant funding to enable timely availability of awarded grant funds <br />for R/W capital to the City. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Transportation <br />BACKGROUND <br />As detailed at the December 16, 2024 City Council Study Session, the State Route 84 (Woodside Road)/U.S. <br />101 Interchange Reimagined Project (Project) is a collaborative effort involving multiple agencies to fully <br />reconstruct the interchange area. The goal is to enhance traffic safety, reduce congestion and pollution, <br />and provide safer bicycle and pedestrian facilities. <br />To proceed, the Project requires both permanent right-of-way (R/W) acquisition of certain lands and <br />temporary R/W construction easements. The Project’s R/W anticipated capital costs of $21.3M are fully <br />funded based on initial offer estimates. These costs will be funded by an $8.0M California State <br />Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) grant, $8.0M U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) <br />Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant, and up to $17.4M (as needed) from San Mateo <br />County Transportation Authority (SMCTA) Measure A grant funds.
