Learn why this is important
Dear City Council Members,
On behalf of our Japanese restaurant in downtown Redwood City, I am writing to express our
strong support for the Redwood LIFE Evolve proposal, specifically Alternative 2. As a local
Japanese restaurant, we know firsthand how important office developments like this are to the
success of small businesses in Redwood City.
Over the years, our restaurant has benefited greatly from the presence of office workers,
whether it’s business lunches, after-work dinners, or company celebrations. More
professionals working in the area means more customers supporting local restaurants, cafés,
shops, and service providers. This project will bring exactly that—more people, more energy,
and more business activity that helps our entire community thrive.
Right now, Redwood City is beginning to gain a real reputation as a food destination on the
Peninsula. The local restaurant scene has been growing, attracting visitors from neighboring
cities who are discovering the great dining options we have to offer. A project like Redwood
LIFE Evolve will reinforce this momentum, helping to cement Redwood City as a vibrant
place to work, dine, and explore.
We also appreciate that Longfellow has listened to community concerns and adapted
Alternative 2 in response. The changes they’ve made—reducing the overall size, increasing
open space, and respecting the character of the neighborhood—show a real commitment to
working with the community, not against it. This is exactly the kind of thoughtful
development that will benefit Redwood City for years to come.
We strongly encourage the City Council to support this project and help local businesses, like
ours, continue to grow and succeed.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards,
Kellie Chen
Owner of Sushi AI
Sushi AI Omakase Restaurant
Cell phone number # 415-606-2237
