CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR (Continued) <br />3 <br />Check stud, joist, rafter spacing and other structural member factors. <br />Examine grade, quality, and treatment of lumber, concrete, lath, wire and <br />composition. <br />Assure proper and safe installation of routine and complex building systems. <br />Coordinate inspection activities with other City departments. <br />Conduct field review of plans and specifications. <br />Assist and enforce in the conduct of zoning, general land use, and code <br />enforcement inspection work as assigned. <br />Ascertain conformance to Uniform the California Building Codes, Plumbing and <br />Electrical Codes, and pertinent provisions of State and County health and <br />environmental ordinances. <br />Confer with architects, contractors, builders and the general public in the field <br />and office. <br />Explain and interpret requirements and restrictions. <br />Respond to emergency calls and possible weekend inspections . <br />Keep records and prepare reports. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Accepted safety standards and methods of building construction. <br />Building related codes and ordinances enforceable by the City, specifically <br />the Uniform C alifornia Building Codes. <br />Principles and techniques of building inspection work. <br />Principles, practices and procedures in the construction trades, including <br />carpentry, plumbing, electrical and heating/air -conditioning trades. <br />Energy regulations and handicap California accessibility regulations. <br />ATTY/RESO.0015/CC RESO AMENDING CLASSIFICATION, SALARY, AND WAGE PLAN (SEIU) - EXHIBITS A-D <br />REV: 02-27-25 MI <br /> <br />Page 28 of 34
