CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR (Continued) <br />4 <br />Ability to: <br />Apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques to <br />examine workmanship and materials, and de tect deviations from plans, <br />regulations and standard construction practices. <br />Learn to perform journey l evel inspection skills in a variety of specialty <br />trade areas and perform competent and efficient work as a combination <br />Building Inspector. <br />Learn to enforce a variety of zoning, general land use and related City <br />codes. <br />Determine that construction systems conform to City Ordinances, <br />applicable codes; building, electrical, plumbing and OSHA safety <br />requirements. <br />Read and interpret building plans, and specifications. <br />Advise on standard construction methods and requirements, research and <br />evaluate products and materials for suitability of applications. <br />Use technology and software (such as smart phones, computer, email, <br />permit software) in the office and on the field . <br />Make arithmetical computations rapidly and accurately. <br />Maintain cooperative working relation s with staff , (internal/external) <br />customers architects, engineers, builders, contractors and property <br />owners. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, orall y and in writing. <br />Enforce a variety of related City codes and necessary regulations with <br />firmness, tact , and accurate interpretations. <br />Apply City codes and policies regarding zoning, environmental matters. <br />Physical Characteristics: <br />Must be able to work in varying climatic conditions and be in sufficiently <br />good health to perform job duties. <br />ATTY/RESO.0015/CC RESO AMENDING CLASSIFICATION, SALARY, AND WAGE PLAN (SEIU) - EXHIBITS A-D <br />REV: 02-27-25 MI <br /> <br />Page 29 of 34
