Page 5 of 9 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services Certification Program <br />Adds new certification program to recognize Parks and Recreation Professional, Youth Sports <br />Administrator and Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certifications. <br />Qualifying employees may earn 1.5% pay for the first certification and 2% for the second certification, <br />up to a total of 3.5%. <br />Public Safety Communications Dispatcher POST Certification Pay <br />Adds new certification program to recognize Public Safety Communications Dispatchers with a <br />California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Public Safety Dispatchers’ <br />Certificates. Dispatchers with an Intermediate Certificate shall receive certification pay of 2%. <br />Dispatchers with a Public Safety Dispatchers’ Advanced Certificate shall receive incentive pay equal to <br />an additional 3.5% pay, for a total POST certification pay of 5.5%. <br />General <br />Clarifies that the City will reimburse employees for successful completion of Management pre- <br />approved training through the City-Wide Educational Reimbursement Program. <br />The Department Head will review on a case-by-case basis any training programs which cost above the <br />limits set in the Educational Reimbursement Program based on operational circumstances and the <br />Department training budget, and may decide to approve department payment of training courses. <br />Such approval is within the sole discretion of the department head and denial is not subject to the <br />grievance procedure. In the event the City decides to pay for course fees, they may only be paid one <br />time per person, regardless of the number of times the employee takes the examination. <br />Clarifies that the City will reimburse for the cost of successful completion of certification exams and <br />re-certification exams for the certifications listed in Article 15. <br />ELIGIBILITY FOR TELEWORK AND ALTERNATE SCHEDULES <br />The Tentative Agreement recognizes the following: <br />The opportunity to apply and be fairly considered for Telework shall be made available to all SEIU <br />Local 521-represented employees, without bias or favoritism. <br />Employees not eligible for Telework will be considered for an alternate work schedule (9/80 or 4/10). <br />Prior to revoking telework privileges, a meeting shall be held between the employee, supervisor, a <br />union representative and a representative of Human Resources to explore potential solutions or <br />accommodations. <br />Denial of a Telework Application and Agreement is not subject to the grievance procedure. However, <br />employees may appeal denial to the Human Resources Director or designee in accordance with the <br />City’s Remote Working Policy and Program. <br />STANDBY DUTY <br />The Tentative Agreement adds an additional half-hour of standby pay in lieu of reimbursement for bridge <br />tolls paid when an employee returns to the City while in standby status. <br />UNIFORMS <br />The Tentative Agreement incorporates an existing side letter regarding the uniform reimbursement and <br />voucher program. <br />6.G. - Page 5 of 151 <br />196
