<br />19 <br /> <br />7.14 Illness During Vacation <br /> <br />7.14.1 An employee who commences a scheduled vacation period and subsequently <br />becomes ill before their vacation period has been completed shall be placed on sick <br />leave under the following conditions: <br /> <br />7.14.1.1 The employee otherwise qualified for sick leave as provided by this <br />MOU; and <br /> <br />7.14.1.2 The employee, if no longer ill, returns to duty immediately following <br />the vacation period; and, <br /> <br />7.14.1.3 The employee's illness is verified by a statement from a licensed <br />medical practitioner for each such day of sick leave requested. <br /> <br />7.14.2 When the employee's vacation leave is to be converted to sick leave, the <br />appropriate vacation credit shall be restored to the employee’s earned vacation <br />balance, and a reasonable opportunity to utilize this vacation credit shall be <br />provided within the City's existing practices in order to avoid loss of vacation <br />credit. <br /> <br />7.15 Holidays <br /> <br />Regular full-time employees shall be entitled to time off with full pay for all authorized <br />holidays listed below, not to exceed ten (10) hours, for any one (1) day, provided they are <br />in a pay status ten (10) hours on both their regularly scheduled workdays immediately <br />preceding and following the holiday. Employees serving a probationary period following <br />initial hire by the City shall be eligible for holidays one (1) through ten (10) listed below, <br />paid at the base rate of pay during the first six (6) months of service with the City. <br />Employees serving a probationary period following initial hire by the City shall be eligible <br />for the floating holidays noted in number 14 below only upon completion of twelve (12) <br />months' service with the City. <br /> <br />The following shall be paid holidays to all employees who are covered by this MOU: <br /> <br />1. New Year's Day (Observed January 1) <br />2. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (observed on the 3rd Monday in January) <br />3. Washington's Birthday (Observed on the third Monday in February) <br />4. Memorial Day (Observed on the last Monday in May) <br />5. Juneteenth (Observed June 19) <br />6. Independence Day (Observed July 4) <br />7. Labor Day (Observed on the first Monday in September) <br />8. Veterans Day (Observed November 11) <br />9. Thanksgiving Day (Observed the 4th Thursday in November) <br />10. The Day after Thanksgiving <br />11. Christmas Eve (Observed December 24) <br />12. Christmas Day (Observed December 25) <br />13. New Year’s Eve (Observed December 31) <br />14.
