The tentative agreement increases paid
bereavement leave to 40 hours or five working days, whichever is higher. Bereavement leave may be
taken intermittently, but must be completed within three (3) months of the family member’s date of
death. In addition, the Tentative Agreement provides that an employee may request bereavement leave
to attend the funeral of a close relation not listed in the MOU, subject to the approval of the City Manager
or designee.
DENTAL INSURANCE COMMITTEE
The Tentative Agreement provides that in 2025, the City shall convene a City-wide dental benefit
subcommittee with representation from all unions. Potential changes are subject to agreement and
Council authorization, to be effective January 2026 unless otherwise agreed to.
PRIORITY REGISTRATION CITY RECREATION PROGRAM
The Tentative Agreement incorporates an existing side letter which provides employees with a discount
and priority registration to enroll their children in qualifying child-based recreation programs offered by
the City’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.
ASSOCIATION RECOGNITION
The Tentative Agreement updates the job classification listing for which RCMEA is recognized as the
majority representative.
ASSOCIATION RIGHTS - INFORMATION PROVIDED
The Tentative Agreement updates the information which shall be provided to the Union by agreement
and in accordance with legal requirements.
ASSOCIATION RIGHTS - DUES DEDUCTION
The Tentative Agreement provides that Association dues will be deducted from employee paychecks
subject to Association certification of employee authorization, and subject to the indemnification of the
City as agreed to by the parties.
CLASSIFICATION AND JOB DESCRIPTION CHANGES
Senior Project Manager: The City of Redwood City and RCMEA have met and conferred and agreed to
establish the new classification of Senior Project Manager effective March, 2025. This classification will
oversee the operations of individual projects within programs and will plan, organize, oversee, coordinate,
and provide complex support for an assigned City Department. Salary for this new classification will be set
the same as the Business Manager classification ($6,151.48 - $7,382.25 bi-weekly), and will be a
represented by the Redwood City Management Employees Association.
SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER CLASSIFICATION SIDE LETTER
The Side Letter establishes that the Senior Project Manager job classification, once established, will be
represented by RCMEA, with a salary range equivalent to that of the Business Manager classification. The
Side Letter establishes rules for a limited-term promotional appointment, if applicable.
6.I. - Page 7 of 119
421
