Redwood City to take their responsibilities to neighboring Redwood Shores and Foster City
communities seriously.
It should be noted that while the measured sound levels in proximity to the San Mateo
Science Center purportedly remain at or below the specified limits established per San
Mateo Munipal Code §7.30.040 (Maximum Permissible Sound Levels), the measured value
of 50 dBA at my residence a full 575 feet away far exceeds the predicted maximum levels of
the acoustic analysis. And yet the developer has expressed little curiosity nor taken any
action thus far to try and understand why and how its predictions could be so far oH the
mark. I would therefore urge that Redwood City take any conclusions or pronouncement
regarding noise generated as a result of the Redwood LIFE project with a grain of salt.
I would also urge Redwood City that should this development go forward that language be
put in place to ensure that the community – to include residents of Redwood Shores as well
as the neighboring community of Foster City – be provided a means to have their concerns
addressed not only during the design and construction phases of the project but also after
project completion and throughout its operational life.

Respectfully,

Michael Zaller
San Mateo, CA
