From:Jason Lee
To:publiccomment
Subject:Palm Park needs - Agenda item 9, CIP study session
Date:Monday, April 14, 2025 5:29:35 PM
You don't often get email from lee.jason.thanh@gmail.com. Learn why this is important
Dear RWC City Council Members and Staff,
Thank you for the opportunity to comment on RWC's Capital Improvement Program
(CIP) proposal.
I'm writing as a resident of Redwood City and, equally importantly, on behalf of all my
neighbors of the Palm Park neighborhood, the beautiful triangular enclave of hardworking
families bound by El Camino Real, Woodside Road, Redwood Avenue and Valota Road. I am
co-chair of the Palm Park Neighborhood Association representing the interests and needs of
our residents.
Our residents have come together in the last two years working in good faith with the City to
drive purposeful, positive, permanent solutions to our most pressing neighborhood concerns.
We aim to address the underlying problems that bring ever-increasing degradation in the last
5-10 years of quality of habitability to our increasingly high-density and even higher un-
mitigated through-traffic neighborhoods:
disproportionate amount of crime, in particular, of violent nature
persistent, daily significant amounts of illegal dumping by non-residents, including large
furniture, alcohol, large appliances, etc
daily/hourly harassment from vehicular violations including large commercial traffic
through un-approved residential streets, excessive speeding, reckless driving, illegally-
modified vehicles, illegally high levels of noise, etc
plagued by two traffic-ridden thoroughfares (El Camino Real and Woodside Road)
more than any other part of Redwood City without any restrictions
seemingly inequitable investment in neighborhood improvements relative to other parts
of our City
and many other concerns
Palm Park sincerely asks that, in your study of the current CIP report and the 2025-2026 and
5-year proposals, to please reconsider investing much more towards neighborhoods like Palm
Park where effective, permanent solutions have been few to come by but are urgently needed
for the physical and mental health of our residents.
We thank you for your relentless efforts to continue building a better, safer Redwood City.
Palm Park wishes to be, and is capable of becoming, that shining example of how your efforts
effect real-world positive change on the lives of our socially and economically diverse
hardworking families.
Please help Palm Park achieve these goals for a desperately needed better quality of life.
Sincerely,
Jason T. Lee
Resident, Palm Park neighborhood
