From:Rachael Ridao
To:publiccomment
Subject:Rejection of Redwood Shores Development
Date:Thursday, April 3, 2025 10:19:45 PM
You don't often get email from rachridao@gmail.com. Learn why this is important
Hello,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the Redwood Life development in Redwood
Shores.
My concerns are manifold. This project will severely disrupt residents' lives, increasing noise,
traffic, and other inconveniences for decades. The impact on local wildlife is equally
alarming- birds may suffer from collisions with tall buildings, nesting habitats will be lost, and
constant light and noise pollution could cause extreme stress to the ecosystem.
Most concerning is the lack of sufficient studies to justify building massive structures on a
capped landfill. The potential for toxin leakage due to the weight of the buildings or poor
construction practices poses a serious risk- not just to Redwood Shores, but to the entire Bay
Area. The consequences of an environmental disaster of this scale are too great to ignore.
Additionally, given the number of vacant office buildings throughout the Bay Area,
repurposing existing structures would be a far more responsible and sustainable alternative. A
25-year construction project that benefits a select few should not come at such a significant
cost to the broader community and environment.
I urge you to reconsider this development and prioritize the long-term well-being of Redwood
Shores residents and the surrounding ecosystem.
Thank you,
Rachael
