Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: May 12, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Waive second reading and adopt an ordinance amending Section 2.114 (Police Advisory Committee) of <br />Chapter 2, Article IX of the Redwood City Municipal Code to reduce the number of seats, modify the <br />manner in which members are appointed, and update membership criteria for the Police Advisory <br />Committee, as recommended by the Governance Sub-Committee <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Waive second reading and adopt an ordinance amending Section 2.114 (Police Advisory Committee) of <br />Chapter 2, Article IX of the Redwood City Municipal Code to reduce the number of seats, modify the <br />manner in which members are appointed, and update membership criteria for the Police Advisory <br />Committee, as recommended by the Governance Sub-Committee. <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />At its meeting on April 28, 2025 following robust discussion, the City Council unanimously voted to waive <br />the first reading and introduce an ordinance making modifications to the Police Advisory Committee <br />ordinance to align with other boards, commissions, and committees by reducing the number of members <br />from 11 to 7, with staggered four-year terms, and appointing all seats by majority vote of the full City <br />Council, as recommended by the Governance Sub-Committee.
