REV: 04-29-25 LF
OUTRIGGER/AERIAL INTERLOCK
The aerial hydraulic system shall include an interlock feature that will prevent the accidental
operation of the outriggers during aerial operation. This interlock shall also prevent accidental
operation of the aerial device prior to the outriggers being properly deployed.
In the event of electrical failure, the operator shall be able to override the hydraulic system to
operate the aerial device or outriggers for continuous, uninterrupted operation. A 5,000 psi
hydraulic oil pressure gauge shall be provided and installed at the override location to monitor the
overall pressure of the hydraulic system.
LIFT, EXTENSION AND ROTATION HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVE
A three-function hydraulic proportional valve bank shall control ladder functions. The valve shall
be located at the turntable console area with access for maintenance as needed.
OUTRIGGERS
Two (2) independently controlled “out and down” H-Style outriggers shall be provided, forward of
the body compartmentation, at the front of the trailer. The extension of the horizontal outrigger
beams shall provide a 16’ outrigger stance.
Five (5) slide pads shall be provided for each outrigger beam assembly to provide smooth
operation and to extend the life of the outrigger.
For ease of service, the vertical jack cylinders shall be designed so they can be removed from
the top. Designs that require the removal of the horizontal beams or dropping the cylinder out the
bottom shall not be acceptable.
OUTRIGGER SYSTEM HYDRAULIC CONTROL VALVES
A directional control valve that is designed for parallel hydraulic circuit operations shall control the
outrigger cylinder system. This valve shall be modular in design so that individual sections can be
replaced in the field, rather than complete valve assemblies, thus reducing maintenance costs.
Each valve shall be equipped with a heavy-duty electric solenoid for electric control of the
outrigger from the remote operator's station.
OUTRIGGER CONTROL STATIONS
Two (2) illuminated electronic outrigger control stations shall be provided, one (1) on each side of
the trailer gooseneck forward of each outrigger. For safety, ease of deployment and operational
speed, the outrigger controls shall be of the electric over hydraulic proportional type with manual
overrides immediately accessible.
The outrigger beam and jack actuator controllers shall be enclosed in a recessed compartment
to protect each control from damage or accidental movement. The controls shall be located such
that the operator can see the outrigger that is being operating. Body designs that block the view
of the outriggers from the control station shall not be acceptable.
The outrigger control functions shall be operated independently, so that the vehicle may be set
up in restricted areas or on uneven terrain.
ATTY/AGR.2025.089/Fire Apparatus Solutions (Purchase of Spartan-LTC 105' TDA) (Page 130 of 150)
