REV: 04-29-25 LF <br />The film thickness of Vendor supplied parts shall also be sufficient to meet the performance <br />standards as stated above. <br />FUEL TANK STRAP MATERIAL <br />The fuel tank straps shall be constructed of ASTM A-36 steel. The fuel tank straps shall be powder <br />coated black and then painted to match the frame components if possible. <br />FUEL TANK FILL PORT <br />The fuel tank fill ports shall be in-line with the left and right-side fill ports located in the forward <br />position of the fuel tank. <br />FUEL TANK SERVICEABILTY PROVISIONS <br />The chassis fuel lines shall have additional length provided so the tank can be easily lowered and <br />removed for service purposes. The additional 8.00 feet of length shall be located above the fuel <br />tank and shall be coiled and secured. The fuel line fittings shall be pointed towards the right side <br />(curbside) of the chassis. <br />FUEL TANK DRAIN PLUG <br />A 0.5 inch NPT magnetic drain plug shall be centered in the bottom of the fuel tank. <br />FRONT AXLE <br />The front axle shall be a Hendrickson STEERTEK Non-drive front axle, NXT Fire/Rescue model. <br />The axle shall include a 3.74 inch drop and a 70.87 inch king pin intersection (KPI). The axle shall <br />be a box-shaped fabricated beam with integrated suspension. The axle shall include a <br />conventional style hub with a standard knuckle. The weight capacity for the axle shall be rated to <br />22,000 pounds. <br />FRONT WHEEL BEARING LUBRICATION <br />The front axle wheel bearings shall be lubricated with oil. The oil level can be visually checked <br />via clear inspection windows in the front axle hubs. <br />FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS <br />Shock absorbers shall be supplied by the suspension manufacturer and installed on the front axle <br />suspension. <br />FRONT SUSPENSION <br />The front suspension shall include a parabolic leaf spring pack integrated into the Hendrickson <br />STEERTEK NXT axle consisting of 58.40 inches long and 4.00 inches wide tapered leaf springs <br />and shall feature a military double wrapped front eye. Spring eyes shall have Hendrickson’s <br />proprietary threaded pin bushings to increase roll stiffness.
