Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: June 9, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Appointment of former Mayor Barbara Pierce to the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency <br />Board of Directors and San Francisco Bay Area Regional Water System Financing Authority <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion approve the appointment of former Mayor Barbara Pierce to the Bay Area Water Supply and <br />Conservation Agency Board of Directors and San Francisco Bay Area Regional Water System Financing <br />Authority to serve a 4-year term effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) is a special district created by the <br />separate, but parallel, actions of 24 local government agencies in the Bay Area including Redwood City, as <br />authorized by AB 2058, enacted by the California Legislature in 2002. <br />BAWSCA provides regional water supplier planning, resource development, and conservation program <br />services to enhance the reliability of the 16 cities, 8 water districts, and 2 private water providers who are <br />BAWSCA's member agencies. Together the member agencies provide water service to over 1.8 million <br />residents and over 40,000 commercial, industrial, and institutional accounts in Alameda, Santa Clara, and <br />San Mateo Counties. <br />BAWSCA is governed by a 26-member Board of Directors comprised of respected community leaders <br />representing the 24 cities and water districts that are member agencies of BAWSCA, and two private <br />6.H. - Page 1 of 3 <br />68
