Page 1 of 3 <br />City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />DATE: June 9, 2025 <br />SUBJECT <br />Agreement for Services with Arboricultural Specialties, Inc. dba The Professional Tree Care Company for <br />comprehensive street tree maintenance services <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a one-year Agreement for Services with <br />Arboricultural Specialties, Inc. dba The Professional Tree Care Company for comprehensive street tree <br />maintenance in an amount not to exceed $200,000, including City Manager authority to extend the <br />agreement for two additional two-year periods in an amount not to exceed $400,000 per extension for <br />an aggregate total contract not-to-exceed amount of $1,000,000 through 2030. <br />STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE <br />Excellence in Government Operations <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Public Works Services Department (“PWS”) is responsible for the maintenance of approximately <br />32,000 trees in its urban forest. With such a large inventory of trees, the City periodically requires <br />assistance from an outside contractor to support the maintenance efforts of the City’s five tree staff <br />members. Ongoing tree care, such as pruning and tree removal, is essential to protecting public safety <br />and preventing any potential hazards. <br />ANALYSIS <br />On April 9, 2025, PWS released a Request for Proposals (“RFP”) for comprehensive street tree <br />maintenance services.
