The City will continue to <br />improve access to persons with disabilities through the implementation of the City’s ADA <br />Transition Plan that includes ADA improvements to public right of ways and public <br />facilities. <br />Basis for Priority Development of new and improvements to existing public facilities was identified as a low <br />priority need in the needs assessment and through community participation. <br />PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES <br />The City is allocating CDBG funding to the rehabilitation of a the Young Adult Independent Living Program (YAIL) <br />interim housing shelter site. See Priority # 2: Supporting Persons Experiencing Homelessness. <br />TOTAL PUBLIC FACILITIES FUNDING RECOMMENDATION - $0 <br />PRIORITY # 5: SUPPORT ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES <br />Priority Need Support Economic Development Opportunities <br />Priority Level High <br />Population Extremely Low <br />Low <br />Moderate <br />Geographic Areas Citywide and low-income census tracts <br />Associated Goals Economic Development <br />Description Provide support for programs and activities that create and preserve job <br />opportunities, as well as reduce barriers to job opportunities for lower income <br />Redwood City residents. <br />Basis for Priority The needs assessment and citizen participation identified job creation, as well as <br />assisting low to moderate income residents with barriers to economic opportunity, <br />such as childcare. <br />PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES <br />Redwood City Entrepreneur Training Program: Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, 3009 Middlefield Road, <br />Redwood City. These funds will be used to support a training program designed to equip low-income, un- and <br />underemployed residents of Redwood City with the training, tools and resources they need to start, grow or retain <br />their own small businesses, creating jobs for themselves and others. $50,000 – CDBG <br />7.A. - Page 185 of 189 <br />389
