T� THE REDWOOD CfTY <br /> MUNlC1PAL C4DE CHAPTER 33A RELATED TO REGULATt�NS F�R <br /> CUURTHDUSE SC�UARE <br /> WHEREAS, the Courthouse Square is a unique community asset and gathering <br /> place for the benefi#of all of the residents in San Mateo County and shall be used solely <br /> as a public plaza according to the Cooperative Agreement between the County of San <br /> Mateo and the City of Redwood City for Preservation of the Historic County Courthouse <br /> B1ock, Rernoval of the South Annex, Reconstruction of the Cour�house Fa�ade and <br /> Creation of Courthouse Plaza, and Grant of�asement and �icense, May 3, 2fl05; and <br /> WHEREAS, fihe City of Redwood City ("City"} has �he authority to manage and <br /> operate Courthouse Square; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City's existing Municipa) Code does not currently enable the City <br /> to permit and otherwise regulate events and behavior at Courthouse Square; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed Chapter 33A Article �II of the Redwood City Municipal <br /> Code govem�ng the use of Courthause Squa�e allows the City to establish a regulatory <br /> framework for use of this public space. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY C4UNCIL 4F THE CITY OF REDW�4D <br /> CITY URDAIN AS FD�L4WS: <br /> SECTI4lV 1. That Article III of Chapter 33A of the Redwood City Municipal <br /> Code is hereby added to read as follows: <br /> DIVISflN '1. G�NERALLY <br /> Sec. 33A.36 Purpose: <br /> Cou�thouse Square {Square} is a unique community asset created as a gathering <br /> place for the benefit of all residenfis of San Mateo County. The City of Redwoad City <br /> preserves and operates Courthouse Square as a community resource that may be <br /> er�joyed by the pubfic and manages Courthouse Square to ensure the enjoyment, <br /> convenience, and safety of the community. 7�e purpose of this Chapter is to determine <br /> when a Cour#house Square Event Permit is required, to support the management of <br /> Courthouse Square, and to ensure the public safety at the Courthouse Square. <br /> This Chapter is supplemented with the Courthouse Square Event Administrative <br /> Guidelines and Gourthouse Square Schedute of Fees. The Administra#i�e Guidelines <br /> describe the policies and procedures for e�ents at Cou�thouse Square.
