Therefore, staff must initiate the purchasing process with the supplier as <br />soon as possible to ensure the City has adequate inventory when vehicles are due to be replaced. <br />The Division is looking to purchase the following vehicles with delivery expected in 2025: <br />Make Model Qty.Type <br />Ford F-150 Lightning 5 Supercrew 4x4 Pro <br />ANALYSIS <br />When researching new equipment, staff is continuously seeking ways to embrace new technologies that <br />reduce the City's carbon footprint while allowing the City to continue providing high-quality services to <br />residents. Staff conducted market research to identify replacement vehicles that would achieve these <br />goals. The purchase of the Ford F-150 Lightnings, will allow the City to replace end-of-life equipment in <br />comparable classes with electric alternatives, in support of the City’s initiative to reduce greenhouse gas <br />emissions. <br />On May 15, 2025, staff issued a Notice Inviting Bids (NIB), published on the City’s website and in the San <br />Mateo Daily Journal. Staff also notified prospective bidders of the NIB, and three bids were received by <br />the bid submission deadline. Staff recommends the City Council approve and authorize the City Manager or their designee to <br />execute the purchase of five Ford F-150 Lightnings from Towne Motor Company dba Towne Ford Sales in <br />the amount of $290,913.34 to replace end of life equipment, support additional staffing, and further the <br />City’s EVFirst! Policy. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />The Equipment Replacement Fund has $290,913.34 available. Funds to purchase new vehicles to support <br />workforce needs will be transferred to the Equipment Replacement Fund through mid-year budget <br />requests from user departments. Purchase amounts will subsequently be recovered from the user <br />department's operating budget through vehicle replacement charges in future years. <br />6.F. - Page 2 of 18 <br />126
