By roll call vote, appoint for the following:
a. Four full-term seats (4 years) on the Police Advisory Committee expiring May 31, 2029;
b. Three full-term seats (3 years) on the Police Advisory Committee expiring May 31, 2028; and
2. By motion, use the current applicant pool to fill any additional vacancies on the Police Advisory
Committee that may occur between now and January 31, 2026, provided there are at least two qualified
applicants for each vacancy for City Council consideration.
STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Excellence in Government Operations
BACKGROUND
Each spring the City Clerk’s Office conducts recruitment to fill vacancies on the City’s Boards, Commissions
and Committees (BCCs). This year, the City sought to fill 251 vacancies across eight BCCs; six BCCs with
positions appointed by the City Council and two BCCs with positions appointed by the Planning
Commission.
At the April 28 City Council meeting, the City Council appointed members to all BCCs except the Police
Advisory Committee (PAC). Details about recruitment and outreach efforts and applicant data for the
overall recruitment are included in the staff report from that meeting.
1 This figure contemplates 11 seats on the Police Advisory Committee (PAC). However, on May 12 the City Council adopted an
ordinance making several modifications to the PAC, including reducing the number of members from 11 to 7, resulting in a total
number of 21 vacancies for the 2025 recruitment period.
8.A. - Page 1 of 4
432
