HIGHLIGHTS
Art Kiosk Installation Project
The RCIA marked its fifth year of support for the
rotating Art Kiosk Installations through an annual
funding of $50K. Alongside continuous promotion
across various media platforms, newsletters, and
social media channels, the initiative flourished
throughout 2023. The displays, curated by Fung
Collaboratives, presented a diverse array of
artworks. Some of the art installations included
Mil USOS/Labor Monument: Portrait of my aunts,
uncles, cousins, sisters, brothers, others, parents,
and grandparents by mixed-media artist Hector
Dionicio Mendoza, Mi Hogar, Mi Amor, Mi Vida
(My Home, My Love, My Life) by artist Eric Lopez
and Looking through the blue-lit window by
digital media artist Miyu Kaneko. These engaging
exhibitions featured both local and global talent,
ignited meaningful dialogues and fostered a
shared sense of community and identity within
Redwood City. Located in one of the Courthouse
Square kiosks, the Art Kiosk project aims to
further enhance and beautify the community for
residents and visitors — establishing downtown as
a vibrant artistic hub within San Mateo County.
Installation of Trash and
Recycling Containers
Appropriately and strategically placing garbage
and recycling containers can significantly
enhance the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of
downtown. The RCIA invested $15K towards the
purchase and installation of new garbage and
recycling containers for downtown’s high-traffic
zones and where proper waste disposal was not
available. The containers were installed in March
2023 on Middlefield Rd, next to City Hall, 2637
Broadway and 601 Allerton.
PAGE 6 • 2023 ANNUAL REPORT
6.D. - Page 11 of 21
90
