SANITARY SEWERS 02 7300-5 <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 PVC PIPE MATERIALS <br />A. All PVC pipe and fittings for sanitary sewers and laterals shall conform to the <br />requirements of ASTM D - 3034 or ASTM F - 679 with SDR rating of 26. All the <br />PVC pipe and fittings shall be made of PVC plastic having a minimum cell <br />classification of 12454-B as defined in specification ASTM D - 1784. The size of <br />pipe shall be as designated on the plans and the size indicated shall be the internal <br />diameter of the pipe. Individual pipe lengths shall not exceed twenty (20) feet in <br />length. All pipe shall be stenciled with the words "SANITARY SEWER" in 1-5/8" <br />high block lettering with permanent ink. The words shall be repeated at 5-foot <br />spacing along the pipe length. <br />B. The CONTRACTOR may substitute pressure-sensitive tape in lieu of stenciling. <br />Adhesive-backed Pipe Labeling Tape shall be PVC Plastic tape manufactured <br />specifically for direct placement onto pipe, cable or conduit for warning and <br />identification. Tape shall be a minimum of 2.2 mils, an adhesive strength of 26 psi, <br />and with tensile strength of 32 lb. per inch of width. Tape shall be of the type <br />provided in rolls, color coded for the utility involved with warning and identification <br />imprinted in bold letters continuously and repeatedly over entire tape length. Code <br />and letter coloring shall be permanent, unaffected by moisture or other substances <br />contained in trench material. <br />C. Joints shall be with either a factory provided, rubber elastometric gasketed <br />coupling, or integral bell; couplings or bells shall have a solid rubber ring <br />conforming to ASTM F - 477, factory assembled and locked into place to prevent <br />displacement during installation, with continuous stainless steel shear rings <br />supplied by Mission Rubber Company, or approved equal. <br />D. Wye branches at the cleanout and the cleanout riser shall be PVC conforming to <br />ASTM D - 3034, SDR 26. <br />2.02 HDPE PIPE MATERIALS <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall provide polyethylene pipe as specified. The pipe shall <br />be made to diameter and tolerances in accordance with ASTM D – 3035. The <br />minimum ratio of orthogonal diameters prior to installation shall be 0.95. All pipe <br />shall be made from virgin grade material. The pipe shall be of the diameter and <br />class shown or specified and shall be furnished complete with all fabricated fittings, <br />and other appurtenances as necessary for a complete and functional system. <br /> <br />B. Unless approved otherwise by the ENGINEER, pipe and fittings shall be DR 17, <br />Extra High Molecular Weight, High Density Polyethylene PE 4710, Cell Class <br />PE445574C, per ASTM D - 3350. Pipe shall be co-extruded using a melt <br />homogenizing/plasticating extruder and appropriate die. <br />
