The PCA designation could help support additional investment in Redwood
City’s Equity Priority Communities.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of preparing the PCA nomination is covered through the General Fund. Adoption of the resolution
to nominate geographic areas in Redwood City as PCAs has no direct fiscal impact. However, having
designated PCAs in Redwood City would open up opportunities for the City to apply to ABAG/MTC for
grant funding that could help at least partially cover the costs of future planning and capital improvement
projects within the designated PCAs that comply with grant criteria.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This activity is not a project under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as defined in CEQA
Guidelines, section 15378, because it has no potential for resulting in either a direct or reasonably
foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
PUBLIC NOTICE
Public notification was achieved by posting the agenda, with the agenda items being listed, at least 72
hours prior to the meeting.
ALTERNATIVES
The City Council may elect not to rescind Resolution No. 16327 or adopt a new resolution amending the
geography nominated as the Bair Island and Westpoint Slough Priority Conservation Area.
ATTACHMENTS
Attachment A – Maps showing the amended proposed Bair Island and Westpoint Slough PCA geography
Attachment B – Draft resolution rescinding Resolution No. 16327 and nominating a modified geography
for the Bair Island and Westpoint Slough PCA
LINKS
A.For general information on the PCA Program click here.
B.For information about the five PCA designation types including their definitions and objectives
6.A. - Page 3 of 9
13
