The Redwood City Library Foundation’s mission is to support the <br />Redwood City Public Library in cultivating literacy, life-long learning, and community connections. This <br />year the Redwood City Public Library will present a celebration of the art of the written word through a <br />series of hands-on-workshops, artistic demonstrations, and special presentations throughout the year. <br />Across time and place, the written word has been used both to communicate stories and to inspire <br />unique forms of artistic expression, craftsmanship, and joy. All events will be free and open to the public <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $3,800. <br />Redwood City Community Theater. In conjunction with the new Veterans Memorial Building/Senior <br />Center opening, Redwood City Community theater plans on hosting a cabaret performance of musical <br />numbers from previous Redwood City Community theater shows ending with the announcement of the <br />upcoming performance for Spring 2026. <br />Funding Requested: $6,000 Funding Recommended: $3,500. <br />Redwood Symphony. Redwood Symphony is well-known as a creative community orchestra that <br />delivers spirited, high-quality performances of ambitious orchestral music in an innovative, educational, <br />and entertaining format. In their 41st season, the Redwood Symphony’s most popular program is the <br />family “Halloween” concert where children attend in costume. The special event features tours of the <br />orchestra sections, personal presentations in small rooms of the types of instruments in the orchestra, <br />and a concert of popular movie and classical music with the audience conducting along with the <br />orchestra with light sticks! <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $3,700. <br />Redwood City Education Foundation – McKinley Institute of Technology School. Sponsored by the <br />Redwood City Education Foundation, the McKinley Institute of Technology School (MIT) will host an <br />artist-led workshop for students to design and paint a new MIT School Library mural. The mural would <br />benefit the school by adding interest and color to the current drab exterior, beautify the neighborhood, <br />and encourage prospective students and visitors. Student involvement to create the mural will drive <br />their sense of pride and ownership and celebrate their artistic skills. The mural would serve as a <br />testament to the investment that the entire school community, students, staff and the RCEF have for <br />MIT. <br />Funding Requested: $5,000 Funding Recommended: $4,400. <br />6.E. - Page 7 of 7 <br />77
