From:Brian Irvine
To:publiccomment
Subject:Comment on proposed anti-camping ordinance for Redwood City
Date:Monday, July 21, 2025 11:03:04 AM
You don't often get email from brian@brianirvine.com. Learn why this is important
Brian Irvine
405 Charlott Lane
Redwood City
I wish to register my position in favor of the proposed Anti-Camping Ordinance for the City of Redwood
City.
I have lived in the Bair Island neighborhood for more than 20 years and have observed many changes in that
period. Being isolated from the city and its infrastructure, over the past five years we have seen an increase
of homeless encampments. Most of the camps remain in the same location for extended periods of time. The
residents of these camps build a local dump for their waste, creating an eyesore as well as a health hazard.
Often the refuse is left on the streets.
As this problem has grown, we have experienced a marked increase in package theft throughout the area.
My community has a swimming pool which has occasionally been used by homeless residents as a bath. I
have personally experienced homeless people coming on to my front deck and looking in through my living
room windows.
An ordinance with stricter enforcement to control this problem would be very welcome on this side of the
freeway.
