Additionally, the PC held a joint session with the <br />City Council on the Redwood Life project. <br />Ongoing professional training <br />and development <br />Commissioners have attended the League of California Cities trainings <br />and 21 Elements trainings <br />Housing Element <br />Implementing Programs and <br />Annal Progress Report (APR) <br />Zoning Code updates were approved by CC in September 2024 to <br />further implement Housing Element and the APR was submitted on <br />time <br />Gatekeeper Projects 1900 Broadway and 901 El Camino Real projects were recommended <br />to City Council for approval <br />Greater Downtown Area Plan <br />(formerly Central Redwood <br />City Plan) <br />Outreach began this spring, and we are tentatively scheduling <br />returning to Planning Commission and City Council this fall/winter for <br />direction on Alternative Concepts <br />Redwood Life Plan Environmental review and Precise Plan preparation has begun. <br />Historic Preservation <br />Ordinance <br />Scheduled to begin in summer 2025 <br /> <br />On June 3, 2025, the Planning Commission considered and recommended approval of the new Work Plan. <br />The Commissioners’ discussion focused on ways to more fully fund professional development training, <br />namely around expenses related to attendance at the League of California Cities (CalCities) training. The <br />City funds the cost of the conference fees but has not funded any travel expenses and the Commissioners <br />asked for future funding for these expenses. Staff believe funding from the Planning training budget can <br />accommodate sending up to two commissioners per year to CalCities training. <br />Proposed Fiscal Year 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 Work Plan <br /> <br />The following summarizes the key components of the proposed work plan shown in greater detail within <br />Attachment A: <br /> <br />1. Collaboration. Collaboration with Other City Committees, including the Architectural Advisory <br />Committee, Historic Resources Advisory Committee, and Housing and Human Concerns <br />Committee. <br />2. Ongoing Professional development and training. Continued opportunities to attend the League <br />of California Cities or other opportunities for continuing education. <br />3. Housing Element Implementation.
