This
system provides automated compliance checks and streamlines field inspections for simple single-family
home solar systems, which significantly decreases the time and resources devoted by Building Division
staff and increases permit issuance turnaround times. The City has issued 374 of these permits since
implementation in 2023.
The City also offers over the counter (OTC) electrical permits for EV charging systems installed on any
residential premises and one-stop counter services for plan review of the following eligible projects:
Commercial tenant improvement with construction value under the valuation threshold determined
by the California Department of General Services
Residential interior alteration/remodel.
Residential single-story addition < 400 square feet.
Signs.
Pending state legislation (SB 282) may also extend permit streamlining requirements for heat pump
installations in the coming year.
10.B. - Page 7 of 64
247
