City of Redwood City 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. 94063 Tel: 650-780-7000 www.redwoodcity.org
STAFF REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
DATE: September 8, 2025
SUBJECT
Agreement for Services with R&S Erection North Peninsula, Inc. for overhead door maintenance services
RECOMMENDATION
By motion, approve and authorize the City Manager to execute a one-year Agreement for Services with
R&S Erection North Peninsula, Inc. for overhead door maintenance services in an amount not to exceed
$100,000, including City Manager authority to extend the agreement for two additional two-year terms,
in an amount not to exceed $215,250 for the first extension term and $237,315 for the second extension
term, for a total contract amount not to exceed $552,565.
STRATEGIC PLAN GUIDING PRINCIPLE
Excellence in Government Operations
BACKGROUND
The Public Works Services Department (PWS) provides overhead door maintenance services for all City
facilities. Overhead doors, also called roll-up doors, are critical infrastructure for securing vehicles and
equipment at the City’s emergency response facilities, such as the municipal services center, police
department, and fire stations. Some of the City’s community centers and libraries also have roll-up doors
for receiving large deliveries and securing storage areas that house operational supplies and equipment.
Overhead doors are affixed to metal tracks and operate through remote-controlled motorized pulley
systems. These systems require routine maintenance from specialized contractors to ensure optimal
functionality. Staff also rely on the rapid response capabilities of contractors to diagnose and remedy
instances when doors become inoperable. As the need for these services is ongoing, having a qualified
service provider under contract ensures that staff can effectively facilitate operational needs and
promptly address urgent matters as they arise.
8.E. - Page 1 of 41
58
